The Met Office has issued a series of yellow weather warnings for wind and rain across Wales, with unsettled conditions expected to cause disruption from Thursday as a low-pressure system moves across the UK.
Warnings are currently in place for several areas, including Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham, Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, Holyhead, Monmouth, Caernarfon, St David’s and Newtown (Powys).
Forecasters are warning of heavy rain and strong winds, with the potential for travel disruption, difficult driving conditions and possible localised flooding in parts of Wales.
Today (Wednesday 22 October)
A brighter day is expected across much of Wales with sunny spells once any morning fog clears. However, conditions will turn wetter this evening with heavy rain and strengthening winds overnight. Temperatures will reach around 13°C during the day before falling to around 6°C overnight.
Thursday
Thursday is set to be very windy and occasionally wet, with gales or even severe gales likely in exposed coastal and upland areas. Heavy rain will clear to showers later in the day, but it will feel noticeably colder, with a maximum temperature of 11°C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Friday will bring further showers, some heavy, before a brighter spell on Saturday with fewer showers and more sunshine. Sunday looks largely dry but will remain chilly and breezy across much of the country.
The Met Office is urging people to take care when travelling and to stay up to date with the latest forecasts and weather warnings.
