Swansea Grand Theatre is delighted to announce it will welcome the very first production from the newly formed Welsh National Theatre – Our Town – starring Michael Sheen, in January 2026.

At the beginning of 2025, acclaimed actor and artistic director Michael Sheen unveiled his vision for the Welsh National Theatre: to create world-class work from Wales and take it to the global stage. The initiative aims to unite Welsh talent in producing bold, ambitious theatre that brings the country’s stories to life.

In a co-production with the Rose Theatre, Welsh National Theatre will present Our Town, a fresh take on Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, reimagined in a small Welsh town. Michael Sheen will take the lead role, with Swansea-born Francesca Goodridge directing. The production also features Russell T Davies as creative associate and Pádraig Cusack as executive producer.

Our Town will run at Swansea Grand Theatre from 16th to 31st January 2026.

Stay tuned to Swansea Grand Theatre’s social media channels for the latest updates and special announcements.
Ticket on-sale information will be revealed soon.
