Local girl, Alice Walters, 22, from Newcastle Emlyn has secured a place in the final of Miss Wales 2019.  She is one of 40 chosen from over 1,000 entrants from across Wales

Alice, who works as an Administrative Officer at Antur Teifi, is a keen fundraiser for the charity Bobath Wales – a cause close to her heart – and along with her family, has raised over £40,000 for the charity. Her knitting skills are also benefiting people with restricted mobility.  Every month, she donates 5 hand-knitted chunky blankets to wheelchair users to keep them warm and fashionable!

As part of her Miss Wales fundraising activities she has a walk to Pen-Y-Fan planned as well as organising her own  event, a 10 hour spinathon, proceeds of  which will be donated to the Miss World charity, Beauty With A Purpose, which helps disadvantaged children worldwide

    Alice said:

“It’s great to be able to use my Miss Wales experience to help others. I’m having a lot of fun planning my event and am really pleased with all the support I’m getting from friends and family. I’m hoping to raise loads of money!  My aspiration in life is to change the “can’t” to “can” by looking at the positive side of life. I want to be a role model to school leavers especially to those that don’t want to follow the higher education route.  I want to show that there are other options such as Job Growth Wales and Apprenticeships which helped me in my career choice. Follow your own path and don’t be afraid of being and doing things differently”

There is also an opportunity to support Alice in her quest to win Miss Wales by texting ‘Welsh Alice’ to 64343. Votes cost £1 plus standard network charge, (Go to www.misswales.co.uk for T&C’s and further information).  Alice is sponsored by Mizz Congeniality Ltd and Basmac Homes Ltd.

The Final takes place at The Riverfront in Newport, on Saturday 13th April 2019.
