The weather across Wales is set to turn cooler and cloudier this week, according to the Met Office, with a mix of rain, drizzle and some brighter spells expected between Tuesday 7 October and Saturday 11 October.
Tuesday will feel noticeably cooler than Monday, with more cloud cover across much of the country. There will still be the odd sunny interval, but a brisk southwesterly breeze will make it feel a little fresher. Rain is expected to arrive in the far northwest later in the day, with temperatures peaking around 17°C.
Tonight, the cloud will thicken from the north, bringing patchy rain and drizzle that will gradually sink southwards overnight. Clearer skies are likely to develop in the northwest towards dawn, where temperatures could drop as low as 6°C.
Wednesday will begin rather dull in southern parts of Wales with some lingering rain and drizzle. However, conditions should gradually improve through the day, with brighter skies and plenty of sunshine developing during the afternoon. It will feel fresher, with highs around 16°C.
From Thursday through to Saturday, high pressure will build again, keeping things settled but generally on the cloudy side. Some light drizzle is possible, especially over the hills, but winds will remain light. Mist and fog could form overnight, particularly in sheltered areas.
While the week may lack the warmth of early autumn, it’s set to remain mostly calm and dry for many as we head towards the weekend.
