A 41-year-old man has been jailed for domestic violence offences against his daughter.

Ricky Richardson of Denbigh Road, Mold, previously admitted controlling and coercive behaviour, eight counts of assault, and a charge of threats to kill.

He appeared before Mold Crown Court last week, Thursday October 9, where he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Richardson would instil fear of violence at home, physically assault his daughter for no reason and threaten to take his own life, if he did not get his own way.

On occasions, he would indicate self-harm, but when the victim tried to prevent the incidents, Richardson would strike out and assault her.

One incident led to the defendant striking her to the leg with a hammer, when she asked him to leave after causing a disturbance at home.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Danielle Craig said: “The victim in this case is incredibly brave in coming forward and speaking to the police about the violence, control and coercion she was subjected to at home by her own father – the person who should have protected her.

“I commend her for her courage in speaking out and I hope she can now rebuild her life, without the fear of violence in her home.

“We continue to act on any report of domestic violence and of controlling and coercive behaviour and we will not stop in our efforts to bring perpetrators of abuse to justice.”
