Moneypenny is giving up to six young people the chance to learn, gain a qualification and begin their careers at its Wrexham headquarters through its new Apprenticeship Academy.

Run in partnership with Coleg Cambria, the 14-month programme will give apprentices practical experience of working in customer service while they complete a City & Guilds Diploma in Customer Service.

While there is plenty of discussion about the jobs AI could replace, Moneypenny believes it is also opening up new opportunities. As technology takes care of more routine tasks, skills such as empathy, good judgement, problem-solving and the ability to connect with people are becoming even more valuable.

The apprentices will learn how people and technology can work together to give customers the best possible experience. They will gain experience handling calls and enquiries for businesses in sectors including property, legal, healthcare and finance, with support from an on-site Coleg Cambria tutor and dedicated time to study.

The programme starts with three weeks of training, followed by plenty of hands-on experience to help each apprentice develop their skills and confidence. Those who successfully complete the apprenticeship could also be offered a permanent role at Moneypenny.

They will join Moneypenny’s famously friendly workplace culture at its award-winning Wrexham headquarters, where facilities include a treehouse, subsidised restaurant and on-site gym. There is also a real focus on helping people feel welcome, supported and able to develop from their very first day.

Wendy Swash, Chief Operating Officer at Moneypenny, said: “AI is changing the way businesses communicate, but that doesn’t mean there are fewer opportunities for people. In fact, it is making great human skills even more valuable.

“At Moneypenny, our people and technology work side by side. We have developed a highly capable AI Receptionist that gives businesses fast, consistent support around the clock. Alongside it, our brilliant people bring empathy, understanding and the personal connection that can make all the difference to a customer.

Our Apprenticeship Academy is a chance for young people to build their confidence, learn valuable skills and take their first steps into work. They don’t need any previous customer service experience. We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people who enjoy talking to others, want to learn and genuinely care about helping people.”

The permanent, office-based positions are open to applicants aged 16 and over.

Prospective applicants and their families can find out more at Moneypenny’s Apprenticeship Academy Open Evening on Thursday 3 September. They will have the chance to meet the team, look around Moneypenny’s Wrexham headquarters and ask questions about the programme.

Places for the open evening can be booked through Eventbrite.
