    Monmouthshire Business Awards Finalists Unveiled

Finalists have been announced for the expanded Monmouthshire Business Awards, with private self storage company, Storage Giant Ltd, Environmental Management Company, Eco Vigour and Chepstow Race Course having caught the judges eyes in the key Company of the Year category.

[aoa id=”1″]The 30 shortlisted companies across ten categories are all operating within the Old Monmouthshire area and all show a commitment to nurturing deep-rooted business success, which is an asset to the local economy and to the communities within the area.[/aoa]

Simon Williams is Managing Director of Storage Giant, one of the shortlisted firms. His company has grown from a single site in Newport back in 2007, to a multi million pound turnover concern – the second largest private self storage firm in the UK, with nine current trading sites across Wales and England and three more in development.

Finalists in this year’s awards include: Xorbit, Cinemerse, Ross Johnson, The Lion, Magnetise Lashes, Creo Medical, Eco Vigour, Bearmach, Capital Valley Plastics, Iterate design, Dash Hound, Brewmonster, Ricky Dunn, Inspire, Red Squirrel Marketing, Flame Protect UK, Chepstow Racecourse, Reid Lifting, Axis Chiropractic, LED Media, Cheesecake Recruitment, Tom Burns, The Whitebrook, Mind Room UK, Storage Giant, GOS Engineering, Miracle Workers Agency.

Simon, who is Newport born and bred, and who retains the Leeway Estate site as the company HQ, says:

“I’m very pleased that Storage Giant is one of the shortlisted firms for this year’s Monmouthshire Business Awards, alongside some strong contenders, all operating interesting businesses. Businesses across Wales and the Monmouthshire region are working hard to create stable, useful, profitable firms which add value to the local economy and create employment within their communities.

“However, business owners tend to plough all of their energies and their time into their firms and, perhaps don’t take enough time to reflect upon their achievements, the success of their teams and the wider success stories to be found within the modern Welsh economy. Schemes like the Monmouthshire Business Awards remind us to do this. All of the nominated firms should be proud of their achievements to date and I wish them all continued success.”

Monmouthshire Business Awards founder and director Janet Harris, said:

“We are always impressed by the businesses we get to know about as part of the Monmouthshire Business Awards, and this year is no exception. The breadth of talent and ambition that can be found in the business community, from Cwmbran to Caerphilly and from Ebbw Vale to Usk is inspiring and we are very much looking forward to the awards night itself, which goes ahead on October 19 at the Celtic Manor, when the winners of all categories will be announced.”

The Old Monmouthshire region, covered by the awards, includes the towns and cities that were part of the county prior to 1965 and the categories include Best Small Business, Excellence in Manufacturing, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Company of the Year, Young Apprentice, Young Entrepreneur, New Business Start-Up, Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Marketing, Excellence in Exporting and International Trade.
The gala dinner goes ahead at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport on October 19, online.
