More films added to Street Food Cinema line-up

After a sold-out first two weeks’ of screenings, Street Food Cinema, Cardiff’s first dedicated drive-in movie and street-food experience, has launched its next run of films.

From kids’ classics to horror and musicals, tickets are now on sale for Drive, Toy Story 4, The Shining, Frozen, Mama Mia and The Goonies. More films will be announced for the remainder of August.

For the complete movie experience, local independent street food favourites Franks Hotdogs and Dirty Bird Fried Chicken are joined by Welsh producers Joe’s Ice Cream, Blakes Popcorn and the Street Food Cinema Soda Bus.

Street Food Circus founder, Matt Lawton has created the new Street Food Cinema events. He explained:

“We’ve been thrilled with the response since we first launched the idea – almost every showing has been a complete sell-out. This has been such a boost for the events teams, street food traders, producers and staff – after a summer of cancelled festivals and events, we are so grateful to everyone that’s come out to support us.

“Our guests have loved it – not only is it a taste of the American drive-in experience with a distinctly Welsh twist, but it also feels really safe.

“With everyone staying in their own cars, the drive-in experience is naturally suited to keeping socially distant. Booking and tickets are all online and food and soft drinks are ordered by mobile phone and delivered by our rollerskaters right to your car window.”

The covered drive-in on the site of Splott Market has space for 64 cars per show, and a ticket for one car with up to five people costs £30.

Evening showings run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with additional matinee showings on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
