Neath Port Talbot announces new tourism initiative

The Dramatic Heart of Wales – the tourism team at Neath Port Talbot Council – recently attended the British Tourism and Travel Show [BTTS] to mark the launch of group travel itineraries designed to welcome more visitors to the region.

BTTS ran from 20 – 21st March at the NEC, Birmingham. Taking a stand on the Visit Wales pavilion, the Dramatic Heart of Wales team met hundreds of tour operators, coach operators, group travel organisers, travel agents and travel trade professionals at the largest conference in the UK’s travel trade calendar.

Promoting overnight visits to Neath Port Talbot, the Show allowed the Council tourism team to launch the bespoke itineraries now offered to group travel operators.

With options for group hotels, coach parking, group-friendly activities and attractions, the itineraries can be tailored to suit group sizes and preferences, while showcasing the wonders of the Dramatic Heart of Wales’ landscape, vales and valleys.

Karleigh Davies, Visitor Economy Manager at Neath Port Talbot Council, said: “Attending the British Tourism and Travel Show was a fantastic way to officially launch the group itineraries now available. Groups of all sizes, ages and interests are welcome to explore all that this region has to offer: the area is brimming with heritage sites and hidden historic gems, as well as proud reminders of our industrial past.

“As we are situated so conveniently along the M4 and A465, groups travelling into Wales by coach are encouraged to add a stop in Neath Port Talbot – whether for the full duration of their trip, or to help break up the journey further into west Wales. Accessible attractions such as Margam Country Park and Aberdulais Falls are a stone’s throw from the motorway, meaning groups could easily add a stop while ‘en route’ elsewhere.

“Although we are often seen as the underdog of Welsh tourism, our landscape offers a microcosm of Wales’ stunning landscapes. Our valleys, mountains, rivers, coastline and country parks are the jewel in south Wales’ crown, and a group trip to the region allows visitors to sample all these hallmarks of a Welsh holiday. We hope many of the group travel operators we met at BTTS will take us up on our invitation to the region, as we know our hotels, holiday homes, B&Bs, eateries and attractions would love to welcome even more tourists to Neath Port Talbot.”

To request a bespoke itinerary for your group, get in touch with the team by emailing [email protected] or calling 01792 460200.
