ue Noake Leisure Centre has received £300,000 of Welsh Government funding (administered by Sport Wales) for a brand new Hockey Hub that will feature a new 2G AstroTurf multiuse sporting pitch.

The new pitch will replace the previous Artificial Turf Pitch (ATP) with the 2G style that is more user friendly for hockey and will provide a key strategic facility for players and the wider the community.

Cllr Ross Whiting, the Cabinet Member for Learning and Achievement commented:

“This new investment will provide a key facility for the county borough – allowing our athletes to develop their skills and providing a place for residents to keep fit and active. I would also like to thank Welsh Government and Sport Wales for providing the funding for this fantastic project and for all of the people that have worked hard to enable this project to go ahead.

“As with several other facilities that have recently opened across the county borough – this new facility will provide more opportunities for active living to help us achieve our mission of getting more people, more active – more often.”

The new facility will provide local sports clubs with the opportunity to play and train all year around. The multi-use pitch can be used in all weather and can be utilised by a number of different sports including football and rugby.
