Trehopcyn Primary School is excited to announce the opening of its new Community Hub. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve as a community space for local residents, groups, and organisations to enjoy. With extensive renovations and refurbishments, the Hub is now fully equipped to support a wide range of activities and events for the entire community.

The new facilities include a newly renovated kitchen and cooking facilities, perfect for hosting cooking courses or food-related events. The hall offers a versatile venue for various activities, from fitness classes to social events. Additionally, the Hub features several meeting rooms that can accommodate local groups and clubs, all available for hire!

Some of the exciting activities already taking place at the Community Hub, are:

    • Trehopcyn Tots: (Wednesdays 9:00 – 10:00 AM): A friendly, welcoming group for parents and their toddlers.
    • PIPYN: A group that provides support and resources for early years development.
    • Cookery Courses: Hands-on classes for individuals looking to expand their culinary skills.
    • Early Years Block Play: An engaging and creative space for children to learn and play.
    • Woodworking Workshops: Practical sessions where both adults and children can develop new skills in woodcraft.

The new Hub is part of Trehopcyn Primary’s commitment to being a community-focused school,  creating opportunities for learning, personal development and community engagement across throughout the community. The space is open to the whole community, not just parents of children at the school, and it is an ideal location for clubs and activities that aim to bring people together.

Councillor Rhys Lewis, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Inclusion, and the Welsh Language, said: “I’m delighted that the Trehopcyn Community Hub is now up and running. The Hub serves as a place for all in the community to learn and engage with each other. Trehopcyn Primary School have worked extremely hard to get the Hub ready and we are excited to see all the opportunities it will provide.”

Nicola Prewett, Head Teacher at Trehopcyn Primary School, said: “At Trehopcyn, we have a strong vision to be at the heart of our local community. The new Hub will aid us in providing access to opportunities that benefit everyone. We are continually exploring ways to develop the usage of the Hub further, ensuring it plays an even more significant role in the heart of our community. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this exciting new community venue, which promises to be a hub of creativity, connection, and opportunity.
