Families in Croeserw are now enjoying the newly refurbished play area at Sunny Crescent following the completion of major improvement works designed to enhance local play opportunities.
The upgraded playground is the first in the scheme completed through Neath Port Talbot Council’s £2.5 million Neighbourhood Improvement Programme, which will refurbish 16 exiting playgrouunds across the county borough. The project is also the second site to benefit from Welsh Government All Wales Play Grant funding, with £35,000 awarded towards the improvements.
The revitalized play area features a range of new play equipment, providing engaging play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities. Then works were delivered by Proludic Uk, a leading specialist in playground design and outdoor recreational facilities.
The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Councillor Steven Hunt said:
“It’s fantastic to see this new play area open and already being enjoyed by local children and families. Spaces like Sunny Crescent are so important for bringing communities together and giving young people a safe, welcoming environment to play, socialise and stay active. Seeing the children enjoying the facilities today really highlights the positive impact these improvements are having across the borough.”
The refurbishment has been designed to create a safe, accessible and welcoming space that encourages physical activity, social interaction and imaginative play, with inclusive features incorporated to support children of all abilities.
The Council Member for Streetscene, Councillor Scott Jones added:
“This investment is about more than just new equipment, it’s about creating inclusive, accessible spaces where every child feels able to play and be part of their community. It was wonderful to see so many children enjoying the park on opening, making the most of the new facilities and sharing that experience with friends. We’re proud to be delivering improvements like this for our communities.
We were delighted to welcome children from Croeserw Primary School to enjoy the new facility, and it was clear from the outset the positive impact it was already having on the community. ”
