Newport Food Festival will return to the city centre on Saturday, October 3, bringing together food, drink, live music and activities for all ages.
More than 85 stalls will line High Street and the surrounding areas, offering visitors a wide variety of food and drink throughout the day.
Some of the best local culinary talent will also take to the festival kitchen at Newport Market for a programme of chef demonstrations.
This year’s line-up includes celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna, a resident chef on ITV’s This Morning, and festival regular Carl Cleghorn, owner of Tyme private dining.
They will be joined by MasterChef 2026 semi-finalist Daniel Llewellyn-Williams, Pedro Alves of Yema in Caerleon and Gareth Jenkins, head chef at Newbridge on Usk.
The demonstration programme will begin at 10am with the Teenchef final, featuring Clodagh McKenna and Carl Cleghorn on the judging panel.
For the second consecutive year, John Frost Square will host a dedicated street food and music area. Visitors will be able to sample street food and enjoy live performances between 10am and 6pm.
As part of Newport’s age-friendly community status, the Mercure Hotel will host an age-friendly community zone from 10am until 2pm.
Organised by Newport council’s age-friendly communities team, the zone will offer free talks and activities, including a presentation about food through the ages from Past Port Tours and a global recipe swap.
Free tea, coffee, biscuits and cake will be available throughout the session.
There will also be entertainment and interactive activities at participating venues, while roaming street performers will entertain crowds browsing the festival stalls.
Newport council’s youth and play team will run free arts and crafts sessions at Newport Market from 10am. The Riverfront will also offer free craft sessions between 11am and 4pm.
Newport Food Partnership will take over several city centre venues with food-related talks, workshops and interactive activities focused on creating a better food future.
The Place on Bridge Street will host talks, workshops and hands-on sessions, while Newport Central Library will hold children’s food stories and food poetry activities.
Urban Circle’s Movie, Munch and Make event at The Circle will feature a Breakfast Around the World experience, family film screenings, food-themed crafts and a food justice display.
The Hive will meanwhile host a community lunch and a healthy cooking on a budget session, offering practical advice about preparing affordable and nutritious meals.
