    Newport road closures for A48 Southern Distributor Road resurfacing works

    Morgan Vinci will be starting a programme of resurfacing works on the A48 Southern Distributor Road (SDR) from Monday 15 August.

    The works will see either full or partial closures of the SDR put in place on the following dates:

    Date Section Closure
    Monday 15 August Maesglas West Roundabout Full closure
    Tuesday 16 August Maesglas East Roundabout Full closure
    Thursday 18 August Old Town Dock Junction Full closure
    Friday 19 August Corporation Road Junction Full closure
    Wednesday 24 August Nash Roundabout Full closure
    Friday 26 August Beatty Roundabout Full closure
    Wednesday 31 August Coldra Roundabout to Hartridge Roundabout Westbound side closed
    Friday 2 September Hartridge Roundabout to Leeway Roundabout Westbound side closed
    Tuesday 6 September Maesglas East Roundabout to Church Street Roundabout Eastbound side closed
    Thursday 8 September Maesglas East Roundabout to Pont Ebbw Roundabout Westbound side closed

    All closures will take place from 8pm on the dates specified above, to 6am the following morning.

    Advance warning signs are already in place along the SDR, and diversion signs will be in place during each closure.

    The council has issued a statement apologising in advance for any inconvenience caused by these closures.

    Residents are also advised that the M4 is closed in both directions between the Severn Bridge and Junction 23 from 9pm to 6am on August 10, 11 and 12, to allow for essential maintenance work to be undertaken.
