NHS Charity Encourages Everyone to “Hop To It” and Get Crafty with Easter Bonnet Fun

With COVID restrictions still in place, for many of us, it can be a challenge finding new ways to keep boredom at bay.

When you’re all Zoom-ed out, have binge-watched every box-set, seen all your local landmarks and had enough of online workouts, the next logical step is to start crafting…

With the mental health benefits of creative hobbies well known, the official NHS charity for west Wales has come up with a family-friendly activity everyone can take part in, while helping to improve the experience of staff and patients above and beyond what the NHS provides.

This week, Hywel Dda Health Charities is launching an online Easter bonnet competition, with prizes for different age groups and no restrictions on who can take part.  No-one is too young or too old to get involved, have fun, and do their bit for their local NHS charity.

Fundraising Manager Tara Nickerson said, “We’d love as many people as possible to take part in our 2021 Virtual Easter Bonnet Competition. We’ve made it as easy as possible for people to get involved, with a selection of hat and bonnet paper templates they can paint, colour or stick their creations to. There’s no limit on how wild and wacky the bonnets can be – it would be fantastic if people could reuse items they already have at home – repurposing caps, boaters or trilbies for truly unique entries. We’ll be sharing our favourite photos on our social media channels and we really hope the competition brings some much needed cheer after a tough 12 months for us all.”

The charity is encouraging schools, businesses, groups and clubs of all ages to get involved. There are prizes on offer in three age categories – 0-5 years, 6-12 and 13 plus Each entry requires a £2 donation with all proceeds supporting the work of Hywel Dda Health Charities across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
