TOP South Wales ska band Skalet will be performing ‘a night of the greatest ska hits’ at a charity gig for the City Hospice.

The charity night will be held on October 18 at the Earl Haig, Whitchurch, Cardiff, and tickets can be bought direct from the Earl Haig, or by contacting Alastair Milburn on 07813 857382 or emailing [email protected]

City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, looking after people with incurable and life limiting conditions, such as Cancer, Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

To meet the increasing need for hospice care, the charity has launched a ‘Donate a Day’ campaign in the hope that donors will find new, fun ways of raising money to provide nursing care 365 days a year. Supporters who raise £150 thereby pay for a day of nursing care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, and they are able to select a date that’s meaningful to them.

Organisers have set a target of £55,000 to raise throughout the year, which will help pay for over 365 days of nursing care, delivered at their centre in Whitchurch and within people’s own homes.

    Concert organiser Alastair Milburn said:

“Skalet have supported some of the UK’s most famous bands, including Bruce Foxton’s The Jam and Bad Manners. The band has donated its services for free for what should be a fantastic night. We hope to raise enough money to fund several days of nursing care at City Hospice.”
