Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will kick off a summer of live music in the Welsh capital in the gorgeous grounds of Cardiff Castle on Friday 24 May 2019, bringing his international hits to the iconic location in the heart of the Welsh capital.

Support comes from special guest Gaz Coombes and Boy Azooga. Tickets will go on sale from 10am Friday 7 December 2018, and are available from Ticketmaster.co.uk, Alttickets.com, Gigantic.com and Seetickets.com.

2018 has been a hugely successful year for Noel, who landed a Mercury Prize nomination with his most recent High Flying Birds LP Who Built The Moon?. The album was the bands 3rd straight #1 album, following on from the successes of their self-titled debut and 2015’s Chasing Yesterday. Noel and the band have also completed an arena tour of the UK, including a sold out Cardiff show, toured extensively across North America, Europe and Asia as well as confirming a headline appearance for This is Tomorrow and Mad Cool Festival in 2019.

Additionally Noel added to his 2013 Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection, and 2012’s NME Godlike Genius Award by winning Best Album and Solo Artist at this year’s Q Awards. Noel has also talked about material from his next album, which he has confirmed he is working on.

The Cardiff Castle date is once again being promoted by a dream team featuring the current and three times Live UK Regional Promoter of the year Orchard Live (formerly Orchard Entertainment) and three times Live UK National Promoter, DHP Family, who teamed up this year to bring two sold out shows with Pete Tong & the Heritage Orchestra and Catfish and the Bottlemen to the same venue.

Pablo Janczur, director of Orchard Live said:

“Noel’s a huge name in music, and getting great reviews for his current shows. Cardiff Castle is a fantastic venue for live music, both of our 2018 shows were really special there, so Cardiff has a great night of music to kick off its summer calendar.”

Main support comes from special guest Gaz Coombes, a fellow Ivor nominee and the ex-frontman of Supergrass, who returned earlier this year with his 3rd studio album World’s Strongest Man which has seen multiple inclusions in the ‘best of 2018 lists’ by the likes of Fopp, Mojo, and Rough Trade.

Cardiff’s very own Boy Azooga have had a phenomenal year with an appearance on Later with…Jools Holland, packed festival crowds including Swn Festival and Green Man Festival and their debut album 1,2, Kung Fu took home the Welsh Music Prize last month.
