The North East Wales Football Association (NEWFA) has announced the launch of a recruitment process for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as the organisation looks to strengthen its leadership and deliver its next phase of strategic development.

The role will be a part-time, service-based contract, with the successful candidate responsible for supporting the implementation of NEWFA’s new operating model and helping deliver the association’s strategic objectives across the region.

Working closely with the NEWFA Board of Directors, the CEO will provide leadership and coordination across the association’s activities, ensuring that strategy is translated into clear delivery plans and measurable outcomes. The role will also focus on strengthening relationships with clubs, leagues, volunteers and governing bodies, while maintaining strong standards of governance, safeguarding and financial stewardship.

The appointment represents an important step in supporting the continued growth and development of grassroots football across North East Wales. The CEO will play a key role in building collaboration across the football community, working with stakeholders including the Football Association of Wales (FAW), local authorities and partner organisations.

The successful candidate will also oversee operational coordination within the association and support income generation through sponsorships, grants and partnerships to help sustain and grow the game locally.

The contract is structured as a self-employed service agreement, with a fee of £1,500 per month (£18,000 per annum) and an expected engagement of approximately 30 hours per week, including some evening and weekend commitments.

    A spokesperson for NEWFA said:

“This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of grassroots football in North East Wales. The CEO will play a central role in supporting our clubs, leagues and volunteers while ensuring the association delivers against its strategic ambitions and continues to strengthen the game across the region.”

Applications are now open, with candidates asked to submit a CV and cover letter outlining their experience against the selection criteria.

    Application deadline: Monday 16 March 2026 – 12:30pm

Applications should be sent to: [email protected] and [email protected]

Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 20 March, with a target start date of 1 April 2026.
