In a bold tribute to one of the biggest music reunions in UK history, FOR Cardiff has commissioned renowned local street artist Rmer,  to create a striking piece of graffiti art to celebrate Oasis’s opening night at the Principality Stadium.

The artwork, unveiled ahead of two sold-out shows in the Welsh capital, is a copy of Liam Gallagher’s viral tweet hailing the Welsh capital: “Cardiff is the bollox.”

It captures the energy, swagger, and cultural impact of Oasis, while marking Cardiff’s central role in music history as the band reunites for their first tour in over a decade.

The Oasis reunion shows at the Principality Stadium are expected to draw over 120,000 fans across two nights and deliver a major economic boost to the city centre, with estimates putting the financial impact at over £10 million. Hotels are fully booked, pubs are braced for record-breaking nights, and the atmosphere in Cardiff is electric.

“This commission is a tribute not just to the band, but to the city, the fans, and Cardiff’s status as a cultural powerhouse,” said Carolyn Brownell, CEO at FOR Cardiff, the Business Improvement District (BID) of Cardiff city centre.

The mural, created by acclaimed local artist Rmer, known for his dynamic urban art, is expected to become a photo opportunity and major draw for fans and visitors alike, and is situated on the side of the security lodge at the Utilita Arena (facing into the NCP car park).

Will Owen, General Manager of the Utiilta Arena said, “We’re pleased that the Utilita Arena could host this new mural as part of the citywide celebrations of the Oasis gigs. Oasis played here at the arena in 1996, 2002 & 2008 so we’re a perfect location to pay tribute.

Cardiff is truly cementing its position as a thriving music city, in fact this mural came about thanks to the Cardiff Music Board that I sit on along with the project funders, FOR Cardiff.’
