It’s the oldest fair in Wales and recognised as the fourth largest Chartered Street Trading Fair in the UK.

Now Neath Port Talbot Council is looking for new traders to take up the last remaining places at the 2018 Great Neath September fair which runs from Wednesday, September 12th to Saturday, September 15th.

Applications are currently being taken for new stall holders and if you would like to get involved in the fair as a stall holder the authority would love to hear from you – call Kirstie on 01639 686979 for more information.

Traders from all around the UK and more recently from all over Europe, have been flocking to the popular four-day event with products on offer ranging from artisan foods, textiles, furniture, china, pottery and many more making the total of up to 140 stalls sited around the bustling streets of Neath Town Centre.

Many of the town centre shops will also be open late to coincide with the Fair, drawing in the crowds and giving people a chance to browse and enjoy the atmosphere.

The Great Neath September Fair always takes place on the second Thursday of September and its truly ancient roots – the fair can trace its origin back over the centuries to the original Charter granted in 1280 – have given it iconic status.

Cllr Annette Wingrave, Neath Port Talbot Council’s cabinet member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development said:

“Neath’s Great September Fair is part of history being more than 700 years old and is enjoyed every year by crowds of many thousands.

“It is part of the line-up of big events in Neath such as The Great Guitar Gig, The Neath Food and Drink Festival and The Neath Real Ale and Cider Festival.”
