Linking with Porthcawl’s regeneration plans, two informal consultation events are set to take place in March. These events are inviting local residents to voice their opinions about how Porthcawl’s planned public open space should be used.
Set to take place at the Grand Pavilion between 9am to 7pm onWednesday 15 March and 9am to 5pm on Thursday 23 March, the sessions will showcase a number of potential options, as well as designs for how the public open space could be developed to benefit residents and visitors alike.
Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in line with the Placemaking Wales Charter, businesses and residents are being encouraged to visit the drop-in sessions, view exhibition boards, speak to regeneration staff and give their thoughts on the proposals.
With potential ideas ranging from skateparks, pump tracks and water-based facilities such as a ‘splash park,’ to community gardens, green walking routes and outdoor gym and multiuse game zones – we want to encourage people to come forward with their own ideas and proposals.
Other fantastic ideas include an open-air amphitheatre and performance venue, or space suitable for staging seasonal events such as visiting speciality markets, Christmas ice rinks and more.
We want to capture all of these views so they can be properly analysed and investigated, and to put forward a few ideas of our own for consideration too.

Following completion of the drop-in sessions, exhibition boards will be made available to view online at the council’s website, with comments sought over a further three-week period.
Feedback will help shape and inform the design, capturing a shared vision for the look, feel and use of key open space within the regeneration area.
I think people will find the drop-in sessions extremely interesting. As well as offering a glimpse of Porthcawl’s potential future, they offer an opportunity to discuss with regeneration experts how we can work together to deliver transformational change across the Porthcawl Waterfront area.
Our regeneration plans are going to create a lot of new public open space, and we want to explore what types of facilities people want to see there.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the current and next generations of Porthcawl to have their say on the future of Porthcawl.
