The Paris Air Show 2019 was a resounding success with one company, Tritech Group, securing more than £5 million worth of new deals during the Welsh Government trade mission, Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates has announced.

Six companies from Wales were on the Welsh Government stand at The Paris Air show which ran from 17-21 June 2019:

    • Compact Orbital Gears (Rhayader)
    • Denis Ferranti Group (Bangor)
    • Faun Trackway (Llangefni)
    • Tritech Group (Wrexham)
    • Qioptiq (St Asaph)
    • Winslow Adaptics (Brecon)

Between them, the businesses also engaged in conversations that could lead to potential orders worth a combined total of £17 million over the coming years.

This demonstrates the strength of the aerospace industry in Wales and the importance in building future trading relationships.

The Paris Air Show is a major event in the aerospace calendar and provides Wales with an opportunity to showcase its capabilities and strategic sites on an international stage.

In 2019, the show welcomed a record number of exhibitors and also attracted 316,000 visitors across the week.

Aerospace is a hugely important sector for Wales with 160 companies based in the country employing around 23,000 people.

Ken Skates, Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales said:

It’s fantastic news that Tritech Group who joined me at the Paris Air Show last year made deals worth more than £5 million at the event.

This success is very welcome and it’s also encouraging that there are potentially more deals to be made over the coming months and years by all six companies thanks to our presence at the show.

The event is a great occasion for Welsh firms and provides us with a prime platform to demonstrate the excellent capabilities of businesses from Wales.

The aerospace industry is a significant part of the Welsh economy and Wales is home to many of the sector’s top global companies.

As a government we will continue to work hard to enhance Wales’s reputation as a place to invest and do business.

Eluned Morgan, Minister for International Relations said:

The Welsh Government recently published an International Strategy, which sets out how we are promoting Wales around the world, and how we intend to strengthen our existing relationships and make new ones with international partners.

The news of Tritech Group is a prime example of how Welsh companies are working hard at selling Wales across the globe.

Kimberley Coldwell, Business Development & Marketing Manager at Tritech Group Ltd in Wrexham said:

Welsh Government Trade Mission support is of compelling importance to Tritech Group as we continue to expand our business to a global entity in a rapidly expanding and developing sector.

Paris Air Show 2019 was a significantly successful event for us and has led to new business opportunities worth over £5m, demonstrating the power and value of attending and showcasing capabilities on purposeful platforms.

The development of Tritech Group is welcomed by our 565 strong workforce who advocate their pride in contributing to the exceptional standards of manufacturing in Wales.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Welsh Government for their continued support to the development of our organisation and can attribute much of our prosperity to Government abutment.
