A drug dealer from Bridgend has been jailed for over two years following an investigation by South Wales Police.
Curtis Baker, aged 25, of Pencoed, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court for sentencing on June 19 after pleading guilty to Possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A (Cocaine). He was sentenced to a total of two years and four months for the offence.
On June 6, 2024 at around 10.20pm, officers from the Organised Crime Unit were on patrol in Bridgend when Baker’s driving caught their attention. He was then spotted stopping for a short while, making a short exchange with someone, then driving off at speed.
Officers located Baker shortly after in Pencoed, having come to a natural stop, and stopped him to talk. While Baker provided insurance details via his mobile, on officers holding the phone Baker attempted to grab it and run away.
Baker was detained and a search was conducted. A small amount of cash was found in his car and messaging on his phone suggested he was involved in the supply of drugs, and Baker was arrested. A further search of Baker’s house found a bag of a white powder – believed to be cocaine – and digital weighing scales in his kitchen. A later test confirmed the powder as cocaine.
Detective Sergeant Lia Jones of the Organised Crime Unit said: “There is no place for drugs in our community and I’m pleased to see this sentence handed down.
“Our teams continue to be on the look out for those involved in criminal activity, and we are committed to bringing those involved before the courts.”
