Packaged Living are pleased to have submitted a planning application for the regeneration of Suffolk House, Trade Street, Cardiff to provide a build-to-rent homes development known as Trade Street Gardens.

The application proposes 331 new rental homes comprising one, two and three bedroom apartments alongside fantastic amenity and commercial space to support local independent businesses and provide space for pop up community events. The proposal has been designed to meet the pressing need for new homes within the centre of Cardiff, whilst also providing an opportunity to create a gateway into the proposed Embankment regeneration development. The plans will see enhancements to the public realm on Trade Street and an opportunity for Trade Street Gardens to be a prominent building in the new quarter.

As with all Packaged Living schemes, environmental and social values are at the heart of the design. As part of the proposal there is a focus on residents’ wellbeing through social amenity spaces such as attractive outdoor roof gardens, lounge areas, games rooms, co-working space and courtyards.

In creating a sustainable development at Trade Street Gardens, the building will be heated using efficient green technology and where possible, Packaged Living will be looking to reduce embodied carbon in the material selection. Landscaped roof gardens and a podium level courtyard will provide attractive, outdoor space for residents to enjoy. As well as ample bike storage provision and electric car/car club initiatives to encourage active travel.

Subject to planning, works will commence in late 2022.
