Cardiff-based specialist podcast production agency Bengo Media has been shortlisted for South East Business of the Year in The Welsh SME Business Awards.

The awards are returning to Wales to celebrate the success of small but mighty businesses over the last year; finalists have been shortlisted after receiving hundreds of nominations and will take part in the award ceremony on Wednesday 30th October at the Exchange Hotel in Cardiff.

Bengo Media is an audio production company based in Cardiff, which creates podcasts, radio programmes, audio guides, tours and books; specialising in content which engages listeners from the get-go. Bengo Media’s primary offering is the training, consultancy and production of branded podcasts for businesses, institutions and individuals.

Based in Grangetown, Bengo Media was founded by husband and wife team Steve and Marina, who both have a background in radio. Steve was formerly Station Editor at BBC Radio Wales, whilst Marina has a background as a Station Director and product developer.

In the last 18 months alone, the company has single-handedly produced podcasts for Pitney Bowes, Surrey County Cricket Club, Life Sciences Hub Wales, and adventure athlete Richard Parks; collaborated with other communications agencies to create podcasts for HCA Healthcare UK and Welsh Government; and offered training and consultancy to Community Housing Cymru, BrandContent, BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) and Macmillan.

Bengo Media will find out if they are winners at the The Welsh SME Business Awards during the elegant ceremony held at the Exchange Hotel on October 30th.

Marina Lois, co-founder of Bengo Media said “As a small business, it’s lovely to be up for an award like this as it lets us know that we’re on the right track. We love helping people start their podcasting journey, and we’ve picked up a few industry nominations and awards for our work this year, but to be shortlisted for an award for the business itself is a very nice feeling!”

Irfan Younis CEO of Creative Oceanic said: “We are delighted to bring the SME Business Awards back to Wales for the second year. These awards will give thanks to small business owners and provide them with a platform to be recognised for all the great work they do. Best of luck to all finalists, we look forward to celebrating with you on the night.”
