Police are appealing for information after burglars broke into a housing development site in Cowbridge and caused significant damage.

The incident happened at the Taylor Wimpey development site near Dunraven Close sometime between Friday, April 24 and Monday, April 27.

According to South Wales Police, locks were cut from the compound gates before further damage was caused to office windows on the site.

Fuel was also stolen from machinery, while one machine was spray painted with graffiti. Officers said there was also evidence suggesting attempts had been made to create two fire pits within the development area.

Police have warned that entering the construction site is both a criminal offence and a serious health and safety risk because of the ongoing building work taking place there.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference number 2600129665.

Information can be provided online via South Wales Police Provide Information Form or by calling 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police reminded the public to always call 999 in an emergency.
