Popeyes® UK has announced the opening of its brand-new restaurant in Newport. Popeyes®, the home of Famous Louisiana Chicken, will be located in Newport Retail Park in the heart of the city, marking the brand’s 18th opening in 2024.

Chicken fans across the city will be able to experience Popeyes® world-famous shatter crunch for themselves once they get their hands on the mouth-watering menu, which brings the flavours of New Orleans straight to Newport. With its signature 12-hour marinated chicken, original Southern biscuits and gravy, the new Popeyes restaurant will add to the existing vibrant food scene in Newport.

After Popeyes® ‘s highly successful launch into Cardiff Bay and Cardiff City Centre, which saw fans queueing overnight to be the first to get their hands on the famous Chicken Sandwich, residents of Newport have been waiting for their turn – and are now set to be greeted by Popeyes® new restaurant, which features a ‘Park & Serve’ option’. Customers will be able to drive to Popeyes and order from the comfort of their car, with to-the-car-door service from the team. In rain or shine, this is the perfect way to enjoy a meal that’s as delicious as it is convenient. Customers looking to experience the spirit of New Orleans can also dine in, as the new restaurant also features both indoor and outdoor seating.

The hotly anticipated opening will be Popeyes®’s third restaurant to open in Wales – adding to over 50 locations in the UK since first landing in November 2021. The opening day will be celebrated with Popeyes® UK signature hospitality, with more details to be announced very soon.

What’s more, the Newport restaurant will also be serving meals for every time of day, including the chain’s renowned  ‘Brekkie’ menu, featuring British Breakfast classics with a New Orleans twist. The menu includes the Big Cajun breakfast roll, new Brekkie wraps, Cajun hash browns and indulgent Nutella-topped buttermilk biscuits. Breakfast will be available until 11am every day, and will even include a Bacon Roll Meal for just £1.99, consisting of the Bacon Roll, a Hash Brown and a drink.

Guests hoping to visit on launch day are advised to get down quickly. ‘Round-the-block’ queues have become synonymous with Popeyes® UK restaurant launches, with diners all over the country having previously queued from as early as 25 hours before opening.

Tom Crowley, CEO at Popeyes® UK, said of the Newport launch:

“With two restaurants across South Wales already, we’re excited to expand further across the country this year, bringing the mouth-watering taste of New Orleans to an already-bustling food scene in Newport.

“Expanding in Wales has been key for us since we first landed in the UK, and we’re looking forward to bringing the spirit of New Orleans to Newport. Our recent openings have been some of the biggest to date, not just in the UK but for Popeyes® globally, and we are confident that our opening in Newport will prove just as popular.”

Popeyes® will be located at Unit 20, Newport Retail Park, Spytty Road, Gwent, NP19 4QQ, Newport. The restaurant has 50 indoor and 16 outdoor seats, provides a takeaway service, and has as designated ‘Park and Serve’ bays for customers to enjoy the food from their vehicle.
