Rest Bay, Trecco Bay and Porthcawl Marina have all retained their prestigious Blue Flag awards which recognise the highest levels of cleanliness and water quality.

The Blue Flag Awards, Seaside Awards and Green Coast Awards are run in Wales by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy.

The coast awards play a vital role in protecting our precious marine environment and are recognised around the world as a symbol of quality.

From popular resorts to hidden gems, all award-winning beaches must meet and maintain the highest environmental standards and achieve tough international bathing water quality targets.

The Blue Flag programme is a world-renowned eco-label owned by the Foundation for Environmental Education.

We are very lucky to have some of the best beaches and marinas on our doorstep and will fly our three Blue Flags with pride. The sight of a Blue Flag is a guarantee to visitors that they’ve arrived at a quality destination with the highest environmental standards.

We all have a responsibility to help keep our local beaches as clean as possible. I would like to remind everyone who is planning on visiting our beaches to please dispose of their litter responsibly. When you’re out, make memories, not mess – if bins are full, take your rubbish home.
