Porthcawl’s land train is having a spooky Halloween makeover, complete with decorations, music, and sweets for kids.

Train operator and homelessness charity Emmaus South Wales will be running its Halloween-themed service during the half-term week from Monday 25 October to Sunday 31 October.

Adults and children alike who dare to climb onboard are encouraged to wear fancy dress before enjoying Porthcawl’s seafront on the 4-mile round trip from Sandy Bay to Rest Bay, with stops in between. Children will also receive a free Halloween activity pack and can trick-or-treat with the driver.

Organising the land train Halloween special is Alicia Paget, Digital Communications Officer at Emmaus South Wales, who said: “We have loved getting into the Halloween spirit here at Emmaus by transforming Lucie the Land Train into something that adults and children can enjoy during the half-term week. Lucie the Land Train passengers will also be making a difference when they purchase a ticket because all sales help to fund the Emmaus South Wales community, which supports people out of homelessness. Our train service will be running every day during the week, and we hope to welcome lots of passengers on board in fancy dress so they can help us banish our ghosts and monsters!”

Tickets can be purchased on board and are via contactless payments online. A return ticket costs £5 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for groups of five, with Welsh Bus Pass holders, carers, and children under 4 going free.

During the week, Lucie the Porthcawl Land Train will complete six runs between Sandy Bay and Rest Bay from 10:30am to 4pm, with stops including Coney Pleasure Beach, Porthcawl Harbour, the Marina, and the Seabank Hotel.
