Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Glanenig Care Home in Talgarth, Powys.

Glanenig is a residential, family-run care home that is registered for 33 residents. It is located in a highly prominent position in the Welsh town of Talgarth and enjoys scenic views of the neighbouring countryside and Brecon Beacons.

It was established in 1986 by husband-and-wife team, Keith and Marjorie Bowen, who were later joined by their son Ian, who helped run the business. They recently decided to sell to retire.

Following a confidential sales process with Oliver McCarthy at Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by first-time buyers, husband-and-wife team, Malcolm and Alison Burns.

Keith and Marjorie Bowen, former owners of Glanenig Care Home, comment, “We were proud to set up Glanenig Care Home back in 1986, and to have grown it into the established business it is today. However, after almost four decades, we decided it was time to retire from the sector and pass the business on. We’re pleased to give Malcolm and Alison the reins to Glanenig Care Home and wish them every success for the future.”

Malcolm and Alison Burns, new owners of Glanenig Care Home, comment, “We are delighted to be the new owners of Glanenig Care Home, which is such an important part of the Talgarth and Powys community. We have already started getting to know the wonderful residents and working with the fantastic team, led by Maureen, Dawn and Claire. Our plans are very ambitious, building on what is already there. We will start with resident/family consultations to help us shape our plans and create the best possible place for the residents to call their home. As a team of Directors, we bring years of experience in leading businesses across the care sector and beyond, and we cannot wait to get started. We want to thank the Bowen family for everything they have done over the past 40 years and look forward to another 40!”

Oliver McCarthy, Associate Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “Keith and Marjorie have created a fantastic business that has become an integral part of the Talgarth community. I’m pleased to have found buyers in Malcolm and Alison who, I’m sure, will bring new life to the home and take it to further success.

“The market for care homes in South Wales remains particularly active, with a significant number of transactions currently ongoing and strong demand across the sector.”

Glanenig Care Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
