Members of the public are being asked to provide feedback on Council Tax premiums in Pembrokeshire.

Pembrokeshire County Council is carrying out a consultation on the premiums that apply to second and long-term empty homes.

    The consultation seeks views on:

    • Council Tax premiums for second homes for 2026-27
    • Council Tax premiums for long-term empty homes 2026-27
    • How any funding raised from the premiums in 2026-27 should be spent
    • Whether Welsh Government should change the minimum number of days that a property must be let for in order to qualify for Non-Domestic Rate self-catering accommodation tax status
    • and whether the Council should use its discretion to exempt holiday lets that transfer from NDR to council tax from any premium.

The consultation provides context and background information on the current Council Tax premiums and housing locally.

It also provides the definitions of second homes, long-term empty homes, exceptions and holiday lettings.

Cllr Alistair Cameron, Council Cabinet Member for Corporate Finance and Efficiencies, said: “We would like to hear from as many members of the public as possible on this issue of Council tax premiums and how they are used.

“Cabinet will consider any changes to Council Tax premiums later this year so it is important that we have all the information available to us to aid decision making.”

How to take part in the consultation:

The consultation can be completed at  https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/have-your-say/council-tax-premium-consultation-2025

The closing date for completed responses is Sunday, 31 August 2025.
