The noble art of jousting comes to Cardiff Castle this weekend when the Knights of Royal England return to the city.

A firm favourite for a fantastic family day out, the dazzling show Joust! will have the crowd cheering and jeering in equal measure before an epic display of jousting and horseback stunts on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24.

Visitors to the event over the weekend can expect a spectacle of chivalry, hand-to-hand combat and plenty of mounted challenges, as medieval adventure abounds within the castle walls.

Combined with strolling musicians, storytelling, a children’s parade and dragon parade, all within the colourful village encampment, Joust! is set to deliver another magical medieval day out.

Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said:

“Joust! is one of the highlights of Cardiff Castle’s summer events programme and it also goes down a storm with families every year.

“The knights are fearless, the stunts are breath-taking and the atmosphere is amazing. It’s an all- round fun day out.”

Young visitors to Joust this weekend are encouraged to come along in costume if they wish to be part of the spectacle.

Joust! Tickets are available in advance online at www.cardiffcastle.comor by calling 029 2087 8100. Tickets can also be bought on the day at the Castle Ticket Office. Children under 5 go free and discounts are available for Castle Key or Season Ticket holders in person at the Castle Ticket Office.
