One of Wales’ longest running half marathons, the Risk Kitchen Llanelli Half, has announced that it is partnering with leading Welsh kidney health charity, Kidney Wales for the 2020 race.

The race organisers, Front Runner Events, have been working with the charity the last two years, after successfully delivering the popular Cardiff 10k race, where more than 9,000 runners took part this year.

Kidney Wales over the last 50 years have taken a focused approach to fundraising for patient research, care and education with the money raised helping to increase organ donation for those waiting investment in new services, facilities and equipment. In 2019, Kidney Wales through its flagship 10K event, has raised more thousands of pounds contining to support the patients and families dealing with kidney health issues.

Nic Clarke, Director of Operations and Fundraising for Kidney Wales said: “It’s fantastic to be partnering with the Risk Kitchen Llanelli Half Marathon next year and having the opportunity to raise the profile of Kidney Wales and raise vital funds in the process.  Runners will have the chance to choose our charity and make their miles count as they take on the challenge of this hugely popluar race in Llanelli.

“With more than 10,000 people in Wales suffering with kidney disease, it’s a cause that is close to home to many of us. We saw 1,500 people run in the 10K for us, and I am looking forward to cheering our runners on at the half marathon in February.”

Emma Martin-Jewell, Marketing Director for Front Runner events commented: “We are thrilled to announce Kidney Wales as our charity of the year for the Risk Kitchen Llanelli Half Marathon. They do an amazing job supporting patients and their families and hope that our partnership will help them continue this great work for many years to come. We have a fantastic relationship with the team at Kidney Wales and we look forward to developing this further over the next 12 months.”

The #Runelli race, is open to runners of all abilities, and it takes place on 9 February 2020 starting at the Parc Y Scarlets stadium.  The 13.1 mile race takes place on closed roadsoffers runners a race with spectacular views, excellent facilities and all round great race day experience.
