The north-bound carriageway on Queensway (railway station side) will be closed several times over the Christmas period to allow work on the new Devon Place Bridge to take place.

The main span of the bridge will be installed during this period. As this goes over the railway track, it can only be done when trains are not running.

The carriageway will be closed during the following times to allow for the delivery and assembly of the crane which will lift the spans into position:

    • Tuesday 21st December – 21:00 to 06:00
    • Wednesday 22nd December – 21:00 to 06:00
    • Thursday 23rd December – 21:00 to 06:00

The road will then be closed at 21:00 on Friday 24th December and remain closed until 05:00 on Monday 27th December. During this time, the main work to install the spans will be carried out.

The carriageway will also be closed following the work, to allow for the dismantling and removal of the crane, during the following times:

    • Wednesday 29th December – 21:00 to 06:00
    • Thursday 30th December – 21:00 to 06:00

Diversion signs will be in place during the closure periods listed above.

The council apologises for any inconvenience these closures may cause, and thanks residents for their patience while we work with our partners to deliver this new link between Devon Place and the city centre.
