A business woman from Carmarthen has been recognised for her contribution to the financial services and leadership industries with a string of recent award nominations.

Marian Evans, founder of Elevate Business Consultancy, has been nominated in the inaugural Welsh Women’s Awards, shortlisted in the Leadership category of Chwareteg’s Womenspire Awards and has received a double nomination in this year’s Women in Financial Advice (WIFA) Awards for Role Model of the Year and Contribution to Gender Diversity.

This year’s WIFA Awards, designed to celebrate the achievements of women working within the financial advice community, attracted a record 1,100 entries, while the first ever Welsh Women’s Awards look set to rival the success of its fellow English, Scottish and Irish Women’s Awards that took place in January.

Wales’ leading gender equality charity, Chwarae Teg’s Womensipre Awards return for another inspirational evening celebrating the achievements of women from all backgrounds and stages in life or work across Wales.

Marian a Chartered Insurance Broker by trade and a Fellow member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), already holds the title as the WIFA Mentor of the Year after scooping the top gong at last year’s prestigious ceremony in London.

Marian, 40, said: “2018 was a fantastic year, not least receiving the WIFA award and becoming an Ambassador for the Women On Boards UK Mentoring Panel. To now be shortlisted for four awards – just over three months into 2019 – is incredible and it really does drive me forward and inspire me to be, and do, the best I can in my line of business.”

A spokesperson for the Welsh Women’s Awards 2019 said: “These awards aim to celebrate the power and breadth of talent that every woman hides in herself and the hard work of female heroes that often remains unrecognised.

“We hope that the finalists will inspire other women to follow their steps and we can’t wait to welcome meritorious individuals in a memorable ceremony and celebrate the winners with them in an enjoyable event. We wish all the finalists the best of luck.”

Marian started her impressive career at NFU Mutual Insurance Society where she was named as one of the top sales associates in the UK in her first year. She went on to become the youngest female sales manager in the country, and by 30 was responsible for a £multimillion book of business. In 2017, Marian founded Elevate BC which sees her working with leaders within the public and private sectors as an executive coach, mentor, speaker and bespoke training provider. Marian is also the owner of Llansteffan Castle and a property investment business.

The Welsh Women Awards takes place in Cardiff on Wednesday 3 July, followed by Chwareteg’s Womenspire in July.
