The Royal Welsh Show has been honoured as the Best Event in Mid Wales at the 2024 Mid-Wales Tourism Awards. This distinguished accolade recognises its outstanding contribution to the region’s tourism, culture, and heritage. Aled Rhys Jones, Chief Executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, shared his delight at receiving the award:

“We are absolutely thrilled that the Royal Welsh Show has been named the Best Event in Mid Wales for 2024. This prestigious recognition is a true testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible volunteers, stakeholders, partners, and staff, whose collective efforts have made this event such a resounding success.
This year’s award is particularly special as it coincides with the 120th anniversary of the first show in 1904—a milestone that highlights the enduring legacy and impact of this iconic event.
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the other award winners and finalists, who continue to champion the vibrant and diverse tourism industry in Mid Wales.”

The Royal Welsh Show, hosted annually in Llanelwedd, has long been a jewel of Welsh culture, showcasing the finest in agriculture, local produce, and rural life. It has grown over its 120-year history into one of the UK’s most prominent events, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and playing a pivotal role in bolstering the region’s economy and cultural life.

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, the organising body behind the show, has a storied history of promoting agricultural excellence and rural development in Wales. Founded in 1904, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society continues to support education, innovation, and community engagement within the farming sector, making it a cornerstone institution in the Welsh countryside.

The Mid-Wales Tourism Awards celebrate exceptional contributions to the tourism industry across the region, recognising events, businesses, and individuals that enhance the visitor experience. As part of this year’s awards, the Royal Welsh Show was commended for its ability to attract a wide audience while preserving and promoting the rural traditions of Wales.

The Royal Welsh Show’s success at the awards highlights its importance not only as an agricultural showcase but also as a beacon of Mid Wales’s tourism and cultural heritage.
