South Wales Police is currently at the scene of a serious collision on the M4 westbound, just before junction 38.

As a result, the road is closed from junction 37 to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Traffic Wales has confirmed that the closure affects the M4 between junction 37 Pîl and junction 38 Margam, with the road closed in both directions. Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys, avoid the area where possible, and follow alternative routes.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said:
“We are at the scene of a serious collision on the M4 westbound prior to junction 38. The road is closed from junction 37 to allow emergency services access. We expect the closure to remain in place for some time and ask motorists to avoid the area. We are grateful for your patience while this work continues.”
