The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) provides local authorities with funding for communities, places, businesses, people and skills.
In Merthyr Tydfil this has amounted to a huge £27m investment.
Councillor Andrew Barry, Deputy Leader of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and Cabinet Member for Governance & Resources, said:
“The Shared Prosperity Fund, what is essentially the replacement for what used to be European Funding, is critical to the successful regeneration of our County Borough.
“The support it brings to residents through training and employment opportunities is invaluable. It brings support to our businesses through a comprehensive stream of business support grants to strengthen our local economy, and provides vital financial and resource support mechanisms to the third sector”
Councillor Michelle Symonds, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Housing & Regeneration, added: “The projects that have benefitted from this funding will contribute to the local economy, create and safeguard local jobs and improve the local area.
“Having been restricted by being in a pre-election period for several months with the PCC election, General Election, and most recently the local by-election, it’s nice to finally be able to share these stories with you.
“Over the coming months the Council will be sharing stories from the people the fund has helped, showcasing some of the great work and benefits to Merthyr Tydfil.
“We want you to see how the people and local communities have benefitted from this injection of money, and what the plans are for the future.”
