A group of friends are gearing up to raise money for Hospice of the Valleys by flipping a tractor tyre for 10 kilometres around Bryn Bach Park in Tredegar, South Wales.

The charity event, which takes place on 27 July 2019, will see friends Mike White, Matthew Jordan, James Woods, Daniel Purchase, Joseph Phillips and Matthew Dobbs join forces to raise money for a cause that has affected them personally.

Event organiser team member, Matthew Jordan, said: “The Hospice of the Valleys is a charity close to my heart, they provided amazing support and comfort for my mother who required end of life care after a long battle against cancer. The hospice provided 24/7 support and enabled Mam to be in the comfort of her own home with all our family until she passed away. We are forever grateful, so we’d like to show our gratitude to staff at the hospice for their amazing work and dedication. This will be a gruelling challenge for us, but we’re determined to raise as much awareness and money as possible.”

Julie Williams, Business & Community Fundraising Manager, Hospice of the Valleys, said: “We cannot thank them enough as without the efforts of people like them we could not look after the 641 patients we currently support and ensure that they receive the very best care and quality of life that they deserve.

To say we think that they are ‘Flipping Amazing’ is an understatement and they really are making a difference with their fundraising as well as raising awareness of the Hospice. I would ask if anyone can donate please do so, I am sure knowing how much support that they have will keep them motivated when things get tough.”

The event begins on 27th July at Bryn Back Park at 6am and looks set to finish between 12-4pm.
