South Wales Police to host family fun day at Bridgend HQ

South Wales Police

South Wales Police is hosting a family fun open day for the public on Sunday 17 July from 10am to 4pm at the SWP headquarters in Bridgend.

There will be several attractions, activities, and demonstrations, including a chance to meet the wellbeing dogs and see the latest operational equipment including police cars and bikes.

As well as this, there will be a vintage car display, kids uniform dress up, police dog and technology demonstrations, and an opportunity to look around the new Police Learning Centre.

Tours of the Heritage Centre can be booked by emailing [email protected].

There will be stalls hosted by SWP networks, partner agencies and various departments. The event is free to attend and appropriate for all ages.

Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan said: “It feels like a long time since we have been able to come together as a community. That wait is over. We are holding an event for people in our communities and those that work in South Wales Police.

“If you and your family want to spend some time with us, see some of the work we carry out, and meet those that help keep your community safe, I would really like to welcome you all to our family day.

“I can’t promise the weather, but I can assure you it will be a fantastic day for all, with loads to do, and ice cream to eat whether the sun shines or not!”

South Wales Police is currently recruiting for Police Constables, and the open day offers those interested a chance to try out the fitness test. If this is successfully passed, applicants won’t need to repeat the test if they apply.

Please note, there will be no parking on site. Event parking will be at Kingsway only, however, parking for the disabled and elderly will be available in the visitor’s car park situated at the front of South Wales Police Headquarters.
