There were smiles all round as nearly 1,000 children celebrated St David’s Day with a parade through Haverfordwest Town Centre.

The popular St David’s Day celebration, organised by Pembrokeshire Language Forum, with sponsorship from Milford Haven Port Authority and support from Pembrokeshire County Council, has been growing every year.

Children paraded down High Street, through Bridge Street and back through Quay Street, led by Samba Doc before gathering on Picton Playing Fields for songs and dancing.

Prizes for the best Wales and Welsh inspired shop window were presented by Council Chairman Cllr Tom Tudor, with Council Leader Cllr David Simpson and Haverfordwest Sherriff Cllr Arthur Brooker.

Cllr Simpson said: “It is always fantastic to see Pembrokeshire celebrate St David’s Day and this year saw a record number of children getting involved from local schools. It was a fantastic morning.”

Cllr Tudor said: “The Saint David’s Parade in Haverfordwest was amazing and so nice to see so many children from different schools attend. Thank you to everyone who organised this amazing event in the County Town of Pembrokeshire.”
