Storm Bram is set to bring very wet and windy conditions to Wales, adding to the yellow warning that was issued yesterday and remains in place for parts of the country. For more on the earlier alert, see our report here.
An amber weather warning is now also in force, covering several regions and local authorities. Areas affected include Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea and Torfaen.
Today will start mostly cloudy, with heavy rain during the morning, especially in the south. The rain is expected to ease later, bringing some brighter skies during the afternoon. Gales will weaken but it will stay windy for most places. Temperatures will be unusually mild for December, reaching up to 15C.
Tonight will see clearer skies for a time with rain easing. Showers are expected to move into western areas later and some may be heavy. Winds will stay blustery with temperatures falling to around 9C.
Wednesday will be a much brighter day with sunny spells. A few isolated showers may develop in the west but they will ease as they move east. Winds will continue to ease and it will feel cooler than Tuesday with highs of 12C.
Looking ahead, Thursday will turn cloudier again but should remain mostly dry. Showers are expected overnight, followed by sunshine and showers on Friday. Saturday is likely to turn wet and windy again, though it will stay mild for the time of year.
