Social enterprise, Single Parents Wellbeing, is hosting a summer soiree to help raise vital funds to help parents in Wales.

The Summer Fundraising event is open for single parent families and anyone else that would like to attend. The aim of the event is to raise funds to help more single parent families. The group aims to provide a positive relief for parents who may be facing difficulties.

Accordingly to the ONS, there are 10,881 single parents in Cardiff and almost 90,000 single parents in Wales (Stats for Wales), a group which is often isolated due to issues of accessibility, poverty and the stigma of being a lone parent.

From the group’s experience as single parents, they aim to help families facing challenges of loneliness, isolation, and the demands of having to manage everything themselves – or certainly the thought that people have to. According to its co-founder Rachel, single parents often find themselves tackling difficult issues such as a lack of self-confidence, managing difficult relationships, mental health, isolation and cost of living.

Single Parents Wellbeing aims to help those in similar situations, making it easier for single parents to access support and wellbeing networks.

The event promises live singers, including Helen Fulthorpe (X factor Finalist), Sophie Baker, Stew Jenkins and Bean and Andy. There will also be raffle prizes and an open mic session.

Speaking ahead of the event, Rachel Cule, Co-founder said:

“Everyone is welcome to come along, socialise and have fun at the Single Parents Wellbeing Summer Soiree. We are fundraising for single parents households to feel less alone and join a compassionate and supportive community. At this event we are focusing on raising £2k for our Play Therapist group for 0-4 year olds.”
