Motorists will be able to use Swansea’s newest city centre car park from Monday 13 July, with the opening of the new 628-space Copr Bay North facility.
Located on the city centre side of the bridge over Oystermouth Road, the seven-storey car park has been designed to cater for a range of users, offering standard parking bays, accessible spaces, electric vehicle charging bays and motorcycle parking.
The new facility will form part of Swansea Council’s 1-2-3-4-5 parking scheme, meaning drivers will pay £1 per hour for up to five hours, with a maximum daily charge of £5 for up to 24 hours from Monday to Saturday.
Parking on Sundays will cost a flat rate of £2, regardless of how long motorists stay.
Access to the car park will be via Albert Row.
Existing season ticket holders from the St David’s multi-storey car park will transfer to Copr Bay North when it opens, while LC permit holders currently using the Copr Bay South car park will relocate from Monday 3 August. The council says all permit holders will be contacted directly with further details.
The opening of Copr Bay North also marks the closure of the 375-space St David’s multi-storey car park on the same day. The site will then be demolished as part of wider regeneration plans for the area.
Overall, the new development will provide a net increase of more than 250 parking spaces.
The project has been delivered by Swansea Council, with RivingtonHark acting as development manager. Andrew Scott Ltd completed the finishing works after the original contractor entered administration.

Councillor Andrew Stevens, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, said: “We know that residents, visitors and businesses want more city centre parking, and they want it to be affordable.
“That’s why we’ve invested in this new facility, creating even more parking spaces than were previously available while ensuring prices remain highly competitive compared with other towns and cities across the UK.
“This means we’ll be continuing with some of the cheapest city centre car parking in the country.”
The retail units beneath the car park on Cupid Way are also being marketed to prospective shop, restaurant and café operators as part of efforts to increase activity in the area.
Councillor Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council, said: “Our ambition is to create a vibrant link between the city centre, the bridge and Swansea Arena, and the completion of this car park is another important step towards achieving that vision.
“Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks about plans for the former St David’s Shopping Centre site.
“These plans will bring significantly more people into the area, helping to create the footfall needed to attract new shops and other businesses.”
