Film lovers from Swansea and beyond can enjoy the magic of the movies alfresco, when Outdoor Cinema makes a welcome return this summer.
Set in some of Swansea’s wonderful outdoor spaces, the programme has been extended for 2026 with screenings at the Amphitheatre alongside Singleton’s Lacrosse Field, and offers something for everyone, from cult classics to family favourites and show-stopping musicals, all designed to create memorable moments to share in the open air.
This year’s Outdoor Cinema season, presented by Swansea Council, features an exciting mix of fan favourites and feel-good films with Disney’s Encanto (Sing Along) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show kicking things off on Wednesday 5 August at Singleton Park’s Lacrosse Field.
On Wednesday 12 August, the movie magic shifts to the city’s Amphitheatre, next to the LC, with Matilda The Musical (Sing Along) and Wicked: For Good concluding Swansea’s Outdoor Cinema season.
Swansea Council’s Head of Cultural Services, Parks & Cleansing, Tracey McNulty said: “We’re thrilled to bring outdoor cinema back to Swansea with a programme that celebrates music, storytelling and community, and following the success of 2025’s Outdoor Cinema, this year’s season is being extended with an extra two films at the city’s Amphitheatre.
“Whether you’re a fan of cult classics or sing-along favourites, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy together.”

Encanto (PG), 5 August, 2.30pm, Singleton Park’s Lacrosse Field – a joyful sing-along screening of Disney’s much-loved musical adventure telling the story of the extraordinary Madrigal family, who live in a magical house in the mountains of Columbia. The showing will also feature family entertainment from your favourite characters.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (15), 5 August, 6.30pm, Singleton Park’s Lacrosse Field – a special 50th anniversary screening of the film that follows the strange and hilarious adventures of sweethearts Brad and Janet when they stumble upon the house of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Matilda The Musical (PG), 12 August, 2.30pm, Swansea Amphitheatre – a magical outdoor sing along screening of the film based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story, which follows an extraordinary young girl with a brilliant mind and a vivid imagination, who dares to change her own destiny.
Wicked: For Good (PG), 12 August, 6.30pm, Swansea Amphitheatre – the spellbinding story of Elphaba and Glinda continues and explores the powerful bond between two very different women and the choices that shape their destinies.
Swansea’s Outdoor Cinema season promises more than just films. With large-scale screens, high-quality sound, and a relaxed atmosphere, audiences can enjoy a true cinematic experience in the open air. Food and drink vendors will be available on-site, adding to the festival feel, alternatively feel free to pack a picnic.
