    The road closures, diversions and bus changes for the Cardiff Half marathon

    Thousands of people heading to the capital for the 15thannual Cardiff Half Marathon are getting important travel advice from Cardiff Bus.

    The bus operator is alerting passengers to diversions and bus stop changes throughout Sunday October 7, as 25,000 runners are expected to flood the city’s streets.

    Wales’s largest road race, which raises over £2.4 million for charity, will start at 10am with road closures expected to be in place across the city centre from 4am to 1pm.

    For those travelling on Sunday, Cardiff Bus is alerting people to route alterations, including alternative bus stops for numerous services to accommodate road closures.

    Buses from the West (services 13, 17, 18, 61 to Pentrebane, 96A) will start and end in Canton (Home Bargains) from 9am to 11am, while buses from the East and Newport (30, 44/45, 49/50, 52, 54, 57/58, 61 to Pengam Green, X45) will start and end at Newport Road/East Grove between 9am and 1pm.

    Buses from the North (services 21, 23, 24, 27, 28B, 35) will start and end at Greyfriars Road between 9am and 12pm, while the Baycar 6 service will be suspended until 1pm.

    Additional diversions will be in place in Cathays, Grangetown, Cogan, Penylan, Roath, and Cyncoed from the first bus until 3pm.

    Services 8/9/9A will not be able to serve City Road, Crwys Road or Whitchurch Road from first bus until 15:00 and will run along North Road to Gabalfa Interchange instead. Also, these services will not run across the city centre to/from Heath Hospital to/from Cardiff Bay. Buses to the Heath Hospital will start from Churchill Way from first bus until 12pm and buses to the Bay will start from Royal Hotel, Westgate Street from first bus until 1pm.

    From first bus until 2:30pm buses to Llanishen (service 28B) will divert along North Road and Heathwood Road to/from Rhydypenau Crossroads, not serving Macintosh Place, Shirley Road, Lake Road West and Llandennis Road.

    Buses to Pontprennau (services 57 & 58) will not serve Richmond Road, Albany Road, Wellfield Road, Roath Library between 9am and 2pm and will instead run along Newport Road and Colchester Avenue to Penylan Road.

    Service 61 will not run across the city centre to/from Pentrebane to/from Pengam Green. Buses to Pentrebane will start from Canton (Home Bargains) between 9am to 11am; buses to Pengam Green will start from Newport Road/East Grove between 9am and 1pm.

    Services 25, 63/63 & 64 will start from Wood Street from first bus until 12pm.

    Services 92 & 94 to Penarth/Barry from first bus to 12pmwill divert in both directions between the city centre and Penarth. Buses will follow normal route to Cornwall Street then run along North Clive Street, Clive Street, Ferry Road, A4232 Ely Link Road, Leckwith Interchange, Leckwith Hill, Llandough, Redlands Road, Foxglove Rise, Bramble Rise, Cowslip Drive and Pill Street. Penarth Road will not be served during this time.

    The X45 will not run across the city centre to/from St. Mellons to/from Cardiff Bay Asda. From first bus until 12pm buses to

    Cardiff Bus commercial manager Gareth Stevens said:

    “We are alerting customers travelling in and around Cardiff during October 7 to potential route changes which could affect their journeys during the day.

    “There will be a number of diversions and bus stop changes in place to ensure our customers can continue to travel throughout the city with minimal disruption to their journey.
