Tickets are now available for the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot’s Armed Forces Festival Concert on Friday 11 November. The concert will be one of the highlights of this year’s Festival, following a break of two years when the festival was held as a virtual event because of Covid-19.

Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Councillor Robert Wood said:

“The concert is going to be a really special evening during which we thank and remember those who have served their country and honour the contribution of the Armed Forces, their families, and civilians in Neath Port Talbot.

“2022 marked the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war, during which 255 British personnel lost their lives and we are aiming to capture some of the stories from local people in our event this year.

“We’d love to see as many people as possible to come along and support the event to pay tribute to the brave people who have given so much during times of conflict.”

Headlining the concert will be Neath singer Kirsten Orsborn, who is well known for her charity work, especially for causes linked to the military. Such is Kirsten’s commitment that The Swansea Royal Marines have officially adopted her as their own ‘forces sweetheart’. Kirsten will perform a number of First and Second World War classics.

Also performing will be the NPT Cerdd Youth Band and Brass Band, Bois Afan Male Voice Choir – formed in 1986 with the aim of reviving old songs and ballads from the 1930’s to the 1960’s and music from most popular musicals and films, and Bagpiper John Campbell. The evening will end with the last post and thousands of falling poppies, the official emblem of remembrance.

Tickets for the concert cost £12.10 for adults or £9.90 for children and £9.90 each for parties of eight or more and can be purchased from the Princess Royal Theatre or online at www.npttheatres.co.uk/princessroyal.
