Following a huge effort from workers at Lido Ponty, we are pleased to confirm Lido Ponty will be ready for the Boxing Day and New Year’s Day swims 2024 and tickets go on sale 9am, Tuesday, December 17.

It’s been a challenging few weeks at the beloved attraction, which was damaged in Storm Bert.

Repair and restoration work was further affected by Storm Darragh. However, thanks to the dedication of Lido Ponty staff, it’s business as usual.

Join us on December 26 – Santa hats are a must – for a heated swim (28 degrees) and a festive hot chocolate for afters. Or start 2025 right with a family swim on New Year’s Day.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “It’s been quite the year for the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty.

“From the excitement of welcoming visitors from all over the world during the National Eisteddfod in summer to the devastation caused once again due to storms.

“I am, and I am sure customers are too, extremely grateful to the incredible staff who not only worked on site during the storms to protect the Lido from as much damage as they could, but worked tirelessly to get our much-loved Lido open ready for the festive season.

    “Thank you all.

“These are your last chances to enjoy a swim at Lido Ponty before the much-loved venue closes for maintenance before the main season resumes around Easter 2025 time. Be sure to get your space quick as they do sell out fast.

“This year has seen thousands of people enjoy Lido Ponty, with early morning swims, afternoon dips, family fun sessions and the increasingly-popular cold water sessions. To date, 770,000 visitors have enjoyed the venue since it re-opened in August 2015.”

Tickets for both sessions will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday, December 17. Get yours quick as they sell out every year!

Both events are open to swimmers of all ages and wet suits can be worn if you wish. There are indoor heated changing rooms and showers for those who do not wish to brave the original al-fresco ones.

There will be five sessions running from 8am to 2pm  on both days.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.lidoponty.co.uk
