Tonypandy fire no longer treated as suspicious

South Wales Police can confirm that no further action is being taken against the 26 year-old man arrested as part of the investigation into the house fire on Tyntyla Road, Tonypandy on Tuesday (Sept 21). He has been released from police custody.

Investigating officers are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.

The 28 year-old woman remains in Morriston Hospital where her condition is described as critical.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lewis, said: “This is a terribly sad and tragic incident which has left a young woman fighting for her life in hospital.
“Extensive enquiries which have been made over the past few days have enabled us to arrive at the conclusion that the fire was not the result of a criminal act.
“Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the woman in hospital and her family.”
