    Families across Monmouthshire are being encouraged to embrace the expected rainfall this week and take advantage of the many activities available across the county.

    Whether it be splashing in muddy puddles or heading back in time at one of the many museums, there’s plenty on offer for families looking for something to do as the heavens open.

    So here’s Monmouthshire Council’s top ten things to do on a rainy day…

    1. Tea, treats and trains

    Tintern Old Station.

    Enjoy a cup of tea and cake while enjoying all the sights and sounds of Tintern Old Station.

    2. Make a splash

    Slip on your wellies and go splashing in Monmouthshire’s muddy puddles.

    3. Go adventuring

    Monmouth Softplay

    Play among three floors of action-packed fun at Monmouth Leisure Centre’s soft play arena.

    4. Take the plunge

    Monmouth Leisure Centre

    Enjoy a dip in four of Monmouthshire’s leisure centre swimming pools.

    5. Reach new heights

    Monmouth Climbing Wall

    Can you get to the top of Monmouth Leisure’s Centre’s climbing wall.

    6. Be at one with nature

    Take a stroll along the stunning Wye Valley Walk.

    7. Delve into the past

    Abergavenny Museum

    Learn about Monmouthshire’s fascinating history with a visit to a museum.

    8. Become a bookworm

    Usk Community Hub

    Explore the shelves in many libraries across the county.

    9. Take a tour

    Venture around Chepstow on a guided tour to learn about the historic town. Tours are available every Wednesday at 6:30pm from the Chepstow Tourism Centre.

    10. Become king for the day

    Caldicot Castle

    Explore the old architecture of some of Wales’ most majestic castles.

    Monmouthshire Council are inviting visitors to share their rainy day photos with them by heading over to Monmouthshire’s facebook, twitter and Instagram pages.
